As the internet progresses, tags, links, labels and comments may offer as much, if not more, information than the content itself. This raises questions (at least in my mind) as to where information ends and sheer clutter begins. Smart tagging not only classifies, but it also explains and enlightens (and is therefore superior to filing), whereas stupid tagging only adds to boredom and confusion. But what is smart tagging anyway? And what is it that defines the informational hierarchy of initial content and later comment? Is it the eye of the beholder alone? Or something else too? And could there be something like untaggable content? Content that is informationally so strong that it cannot be classified, explained or enlightened, no matter how much smart tags we come up with?
